Well known Sai Kung activist and man-about-town Guy Shirra has been chatting to BUZZ about his daughter and grandson’s Big Adventure next month.
In March his eldest grandson Dylan Moore and daughter Sammy Shirra-Moore, will be taking part in the 2041 ClimateForce Antarctic Expedition. They have been selected by renowned polar explorer Robert Swan, O.B.E. as one of 150 participants to join the 2041 ClimateForce Antarctic Expedition and will be taking part in the Leadership on The Edge programme, spending time with global experts in climate science, renewable energy, and sustainability.
This unique immersive journey will train them and their team mates on these subjects. Most importantly, it will equip them with the knowledge and skills to create meaningful change and seek out pragmatic solutions within in their communities in order to preserve Antarctica and the planet. The aim is to share and further inspire on their return, bringing awareness of the 2041 Treaty that ensures the preservation of Antarctica. As the year suggests, there are now fewer than 20 years until the treaty expires.
Dylan is 13-years-old and currently residing in Singapore with family and younger bother Blake (11).
