BUZZ reported an incident that occurred outside Pik Uk, Sai Kung prison last Friday 2 November where a male employee of the Correctional Services Department was stabbed multiple times at a Clear Water Bay Road bus stop after getting off work. After investigation, the police have so far arrested a total of 13 men and women on suspicion of “intentional injury” and “assisting criminals”. Detectives escorted one of the suspects to the scene yesterday (6/11) afternoon to reconstruct the case.
At about 5:00 pm, detectives from the Police Organised Crime and Triad Investigation Bureau escorted one of the suspects to the scene to reconstruct the case. The suspect was wearing a white sweatshirt, black trousers and white shoes. The detectives were escorted to the scene with hoods and chains, and a humanoid cloth doll. The suspect was holding a paper knife as a prop to demonstrate how attack happened. The forensic officers were on hand to take pictures and collect evidence. They stayed for about half an hour and then left.
Chief Inspector Wong Yu-faiĀ said that the police arrested six people after the incident, and arrested five more people on 3 and 5 November, including three men (20 to 29 years old), suspected of committing crimes before or during the incident, including attacking the victim, driving the assailant to the scene, and planning the attack. One of the arrested men has been charged and the remaining four are currently being detained for investigation.
In addition, the police arrested a 29-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man on suspicion of providing a hiding place for other arrested persons to evade police pursuit. Because they provided relevant assistance to criminals, they are currently being detained on suspicion of “assisting criminals” check.
Out of the total 13 people arrested so far, three of them have been charged and brought to court. Another two will be charged with related crimes later. The police believe that there are still people at large in the case and the investigation continues. The police reiterated that the maximum penalty for the crime of “intentional wounding” is life imprisonment, and the maximum penalty for the crime of “assisting an offender” is 10 years’ imprisonment.
