A fatal traffic accident occurred on Clear Water Bay Road last night (23/2), causing one death and one injury. The accident involved a private car and two motorcycles. A private car driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for investigation.

The incident happened at about 10:30 pm. According to information at the scene, two motorcycles were travelling along Clear Water Bay Road in the direction of Kowloon. When they approached the intersection of Razor Hill Road, a black Lexus private car driving towards Sai Kung was about to turn right. The two motorcycles collided with the private car. The front and rear of the private car showed signs of damage. The left front of the car was impacted, the air bag was ejected, and debris was scattered on the ground. The two motorcycles were also badly damaged.

It is suspected that the driver of the second motorcycle was unable to stop after the first collided with the car and rammed into the two vehicles. The 26-year-old motorcyclist of the first motorcycle suffered serious head injuries and was taken to United Hospital in a coma, where he was certified dead at 11:00 pm. The second cyclist – 47-years-old – suffered injuries to his hands, feet and mouth. He was conscious and was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment. The 62-year-old car driver was not hurt.
The Special Investigation Team of Traffic Kowloon East is following up the case. The car driver was arrested for dangerous driving and has been released on bail.
