Man arrested for assaulting police after being stopped for not wearing mask correctly

Yesterday (13/3) afternoon police conducting an anti-crime patrol along Fuk Man Road, near Sai Kung Pier, saw a man not wearing a mask properly. One of the officers stopped the man and asked him to adjust it. However, the man ignored the officer, lost his temper when asked again, and attacked the policeman. Officers gave the man a verbal warning but this had no effect, and eventually they had to subdue him with pepper spray.

The 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. During the confrontation the suspect suffered bruises on his head, while the police officer who was attacked suffered injuries to his face and hands. The two were sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment.

The case was handed over to the Wong Tai Sin District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up.
