Police received a report from a hiker this morning (11/7), alleging that a human-shaped object was found floating and sinking on the shore of the beach on Sharp Island, Sai Kung. Marine police and Fire Department were called to the scene and a body was retrieved and sent to the Marine Police base in Sai Kung.

Last Friday (8/7), a 45-year-old man went missing when diving in the sea about 50 metres away from Sharp Island, Sai Kung. Marine Police, Fire Services, Marine Department and the Government Flying Service searched for several days but found nothing. The missing man’s family identified the body found this morning. A post-mortem will determine the cause of death at a later date.
The incident happened at 3:30 pm last Friday. The deceased and his friends and a group of 20 people took a yacht to dive about 50 metres offshore at a diving hotspot Sharp Island. During the dive, the victim was suspected of drowning. and Marine Department personnel searched the scene for many days.
