Two flats in Kambridge Gardens burgled with losses of over $850,000

Two apartments in Kambridge Garden, Razor Hill Road, Sai Kung were burgled last night (30/10) with a total loss of more than HK$850,000.

Around 10:00 pm last night (30th), a 66-year-old owner in Kambridge Garden, 1 Razor Hill Road, returned to his apartment and found that the window of the unit had been pried open, and there were traces of looting in the house. After a call for help, the police arrived at the scene. After preliminary investigation it was believed that a cupboard in the flat had been forced open, and the gold and jewellery worth HK$650,000, about HK$4,000 in cash and foreign currency equivalent to about HK$40,000 were missing.

During the investigation, the police found that another unit in the apartment blocj was also burgled. The 71-year-old male owner reported that about HK$3,000 in cash and two rings worth about HK$20,000 and HK$50,000 were stolen. 

The police initially classified the case as a “serial burglary” and handed it over to the Tseung Kwan O Police District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up. No arrests have been made so far. It is understood that the two stolen units both face the hillside, and it is suspected that the burglar climbed the hillside and sneaked into the apartments.
