Sing and Ling to open second restaurant in Sai Kung

Sing and Ling

Lau Sing-kim and Poon Wai-ling, partners in business and life, aim to open their second restaurant in about six weeks. They have taken the former Cali-Mex site in Sai Kung’s central square and will call their new store, The Square. “Such spaces in the square don’t come up very often,” Sing said. “Liquor and food licences are all in place.”  Is this the beginning of a chain? Buzz asked. “We’ll keep our feet firmly on the ground,” Sing said.

The former Cali-Mex site at 22 Wan-king Path, Man Yee Square is the site of the new venture

The Square will be vastly different from the couple’s first restaurant, SingaLing. The food will be Western with Asian fusion. It will be heavily vegetarian and vegan, but dishes for meat lovers will be offered. Sing, Ling and their chefs are designing new dishes; photos below give some idea of what will be on offer. The Square will celebrate Sai Kung, Sing said. “We have a great environment, fine community spirit. The (Man Yee) Square is a great place for gathering, gambling grannies, mums and dad, kids playing.” The new restaurant will bring “a fresh look” to the square.

SingaLing

Sing and Ling, who live in town at a waterfront block, are now reviewing submissions from interior designers. They took over the site about a month ago and expect to open the new restaurant in early June. The couple are now hiring and invite anyone interested to drop into SingaLing “and say hello” or they may email poonwailing12@gmail.com or call Sing on 9181 2169.
