Yet another diving accident as red warning flags hoisted around Sai Kung beaches

Another drowning incident took place is Sai Kung waters this afternoon (16/10). This adds to the number of such incidents over the past few months, and took place when red warning flags were raised at many beaches in Sai Kung owing to high waves.

Around 1:30 pm this afternoon a 32-year-old woman snorkelling with friends off Tap Mun near Ko Lau Wan Tsui, Sai Kung got into difficulties. Her fellow divers immediately rescued the unconscious woman and got her back to the boat. They called the police for help. A Government Flying Service helicopter was dispatched to the scene and flew the victim to Eastern District Hospital for emergency treatment.

She is currently hospitalised in the intensive care unit and is in critical condition.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
