Officers of the Task Force of the Enforcement and Control Division, Kowloon East Region conducted an anti-illegal racing operation code-named “FOSSINGTON” in the district over the weekend. Last night (16/10) they saw two private cars driving at high speed towards Kowloon, interspersing and overtaking other vehicles on Hiram’s Highway multiple times, posing a serious danger to other road users. Officers then stopped and checked the two private cars when they reached On Sau Road junction with Clear Water Bay Road, Kowloon.
After preliminary investigation, officers arrested two local men, aged between 24 and 28, on suspicion of “illegal racing”. Officers towed the two private cars involved in the case to the Kowloon Bay Motor Detention Centre for further examination. The two arrested men were released on bail pending investigation and are due to report to police in mid-November.

Police said illegal racing is a serious traffic offence. The irresponsible driving behaviour of illegal drivers, apart from posing a danger to other road users, is often the real cause of serious traffic accidents. The Police will continue to step up enforcement efforts to combat illegal racing, illegally modified vehicles and other traffic violations.
