Cement truck overturns at HKUST roundabout, Sai Kung; leaks oil onto road, traffic affected

At 11:21 a.m. today (/1), a cement truck overturned at HKUST roundabout, in front of University Road, Sai Kung.

The truck crashed and overturned onto its left side when turning right at the roundabout. Fortunately, there were railings at the scene and a big tree blocked it, otherwise the truck might have fallen down the slope.

The front of the truck was damaged, and the windshield was shattered. The driver was slightly injured and climbed out on his own, but concrete and oil leaked out over the road, so he called the police for help. A traffic lane at the scene was closed, and traffic was slightly blocked for an hour or so.

The driver, who was initially trapped in the truck, climbed out on his own. However, he felt pains in his chest and needed to be sent to the hospital by ambulance for examination.
