With the Ching Ming and Easter holidays approaching, and residents of Tseung Kwan O District expected to go out to celebrate festivals, return home to visit relatives or travel abroad, there will be many opportunities for thieves to carry out criminal activities such as burglary. Therefore, the Tseung Kwan O Police District Task Force, together with the uniformed patrol team, police dog team and auxiliary police force, will carry out an anti-crime operation codenamed “Operation Rolling Sound” along Clear Water Bay Road for nine consecutive days from 2 to 10 April. At the same time, the police appeal to residents and security personnel to pay more attention to any suspicious activities on the hillsides near their residences. If they encounter or spot suspicious persons from CCTV, they should immediately call the police for help.
The police encourage residents to strengthen anti-theft measures, lock doors, windows and balconies before going out, ensure the normal operation of CCTV and other anti-theft devices at home, try to avoid storing valuables or large amounts of cash at home. They also advise citizens to notify domestic helpers or other colleagues before going out lest thieves take advantage of the situation. The property management and security personnel of the housing estates should also be more vigilant, step up patrols and improve relevant security measures, and inspect the security facilities around the housing estates every day when it is dark.
The police will continue to maintain close communication with the community. In addition to strengthening police-civilian cooperation, the police will also adopt intelligence-led strategic deployments, cooperate with military and casual patrols, and conduct joint operations with other departments from time to time to work together to combat burglary-related crimes and protect public life and property.
