Speedboat hits kayak off Sharp Island; one injured

Lunchtime yesterday (1/7) police received a report that a kayak off Sharp Island, Sai Kung had been hit by a speedboat. A woman in the kayak suffered minor injuries and was sent to the hospital for treatment.

According to on-site news, two women rented a canoe, and when they were near the pier, a speedboat towing two water skis approached at high speed. The driver of the speedboat suspected that the bows of the two boats collided. The two women fell into the water and were subsequently rescued. One of the women said she was injured and needed to be treated at the hospital.

The owner of the speedboat involved sent his passengers back to the pier, and then returned to the scene to assist in the investigation.
