A 15 metre long boat caught fire around 1:00 pm Friday (15/9) at the yacht club at Che Keng Tuk Road, Sai Kung. Once the staff were alerted and called the police a fire boat arrived and used a hose and a team of firemen in breathing equipment to put out the fire.

It is believed that the fire occurred due to a short circuit in the refrigerator on board, and that the fire was not suspicious. The police later contacted the 57-year-old French boat owner who rushed back to Hong Kong Marina to check the damage.
