Seven residents evacuated on their own. Sources at the scene said that no one was in the unit where the fire broke out at the time. The householder. a Mr Yan, went out and heard about the fire in the unit. He pointed out that the 16-year-old dog Momo was sleeping in the living room at the time and did not notice that the house was on fire “because he is so old.” He also pointed out that the fire should have started in the bedroom, but he had turned off all electrical appliances before going out, so he did not know the cause of the fire.

Residents on other floors had evacuated themselves. Mr. Yan has lived in the village house for about 13 years and has never had a fire before.
