Body of a man reported missing by family found floating off Clear Water Bay Second Beach

Early yesterday morning (9/5) police received a report from the family of a 51-year-old man saying that they had lost contact with him. Rescuers launched a search of his last known whereabouts and found the victim floating in the sea at around 6:00 am off Clear Water Bay Second Beach, Sai Kung. He was confirmed dead on the spot. The police have not located a suicide note and are investigating the incident. The cause of death has yet to be determined after an autopsy.

Sources said that the victim lived in Tai Wai and that he was a former school bus driver and had a history of physical illness. Before his disappearance, he transferred all his savings to his wife’s account.. He left a message with his family at about 10:00 pm the previous night and they had lost contact with him after then. His wife went to the police station to report the case in the early morning. The police classified the case as “body discovery” and handed it over to the Tseung Kwan O Miscellaneous Investigation Team for follow-up.
