Haven of Hope organises “Symphony of Sensations: Music Journey through the Senses” fund raising concert

Haven of Hope Christian Service are working with the SAR Philharmonic Orchestra (SARPO) on a programme of music themed ‘Symphony of Sensations: Music Journey through the Senses’, which offers participants the opportunity to experience an enchanting evening with the utmost sensation in sight, hearing, touch and smell, and even taste, immersing oneself in a journey that intertwines music, environment, and virtual reality.

The concert aims to raise funds to support the service development, the extension project, and the Relief and Charity Service Beds Programme and the Sandwich Class Beds Programme for Haven of Hope Sister Annie Skau Holistic Care Centre. The orchestra will stage the mesmerising charity concert on 10 June 2024 at Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

“We have prepared something quite different for you this time, aiming to stimulate your multiple senses with live music,” said Alex Ling, the Chairman of SARPO. We will begin by playing Edward Elgar’s “Chanson de Matin” and “Chanson de Nuit”. These two nature inspired pieces will be the live background music to audience’s unique multi-sensory experience.

The orchestra will then slowly awaken you with the enchanting sound of the harp with Saint-Saen’s Morceau de concert written for Harp and Orchestra. The organiser has the honour to feature Hong Kong top harpist Lauyee Yeung as the soloist to continue with the captivating evening.

After the intermission, everyone will stay with the concert’s beauty of nature theme through Felix Mendelssohn’s Scottish symphony. It took 13 years for him to write this work, going from 1829-1842. The audience will hear many sounds that will remind them of the Scottish countryside and its power of nature as well as Scottish folk music, from which Mendelssohn drew much of his inspiration”.

Jeff Teo, illusionist for Fortune 500 companies and the most sought-after corporate entertainer in Hong Kong, will also feature in this unique concert.
