Last night (13/7) a group of ten friends went camping near Lai Chi Chong, Sai Kung. Around 10:00 pm, four men and two women were snorkelling. Around midnight they discovered that one of their friends, a 54-year-old man, was missing.
They called rescue services for help at 0:43 a.m. this morning. Rescuers arrived at the scene and launched a search all night, but as of 10:00 a.m. they still had not found any sign of the missing person.
However, around 11:00 a.m., the Government Information Service confirmed that a man with no signs of life had been fished out of the water in Tolo Harbour and sent to the Ma Liu Shui Marine Police Base. Sources on the scene pointed out that he was a 54-year-old man who went missing while snorkelling.
Lai Chi Chong is located on the southeast coast of the Tolo Harbour. It is a geological and ecological hot-spot. It attracts many picnickers who admire different rock types. It is also a popular spot for snorkelling and appreciation of marine ecology.
