500lb wartime bomb found near Shek Ngau Chau, Sai Kung successfully detonated

On 15 September, a citizen reported that a suspected bomb had been found under 13 metres of water east of Shek Ngau Chau in Sai Kung. On 25 September, police confirmed that the bomb was a Japanese-style 500-pound air-dropped bomb from World War II.

Yesterday (8/10) the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau (EOD), along with the Flying Tigers, Water Assault Team, Small Boat Division, and the Marine Police’s North Division and Unmanned Aircraft Team, conducted the controlled detonation at approximately 2:46 pm.
