Tseung Kwan O Police District received reports of a number of burglary cases in the area of Silverstrand Bay and Silver Crest Road, Sai Kung over the past month. Investigations showed that thieves were choosing some housing estates built on hillsides and using the jungle and the cover of darkness on the hillsides, to sneak into the houses and burgle them. In view of this, the Tseung Kwan O Police District Task Force, the Uniformed Patrol Team, the Police Dog Unit, the “Stormtroopers” of the East Kowloon Region and the Mobile Unit conducted an operation in the Clear Water Bay Road area for nine consecutive days (from the 2 – 10 November) to combat and prevent crimes such as burglary.
During this period, officers intercepted a man who was acting suspiciously on Clear Water Bay Road and found two screwdrivers, a black short-sleeved top and black trousers in his black backpack. After investigation, the 29-year-old mainland man was arrested on suspicion of “preparing items for burglary”. He is currently being detained for investigation. The case has now been handed over to Team 6 of the Tseung Kwan O Police District Criminal Investigation Team for continued follow-up.
