House fire in Tai Po Tsai, Sai Kung blamed on suspected electrical short circuit

A fire broke out in Tai Po Tsai, Sai Kung around 9:46 pm last night (20/11). Police received a report of a fire in a village house in Sheung Tsuen, Tai Po Tsai. Reports indicated that two men were seen on the rooftop awaiting rescue. Firefighters arrived and used two hoses and two teams with breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire. About 30 people evacuated to safety.

The two men initially trapped on the rooftop were also rescued by firefighters. No injuries or fatalities have been reported. The fire was extinguished at approximately 11:00 pm.

Preliminary investigation suggests the fire started when a power strip in the unit began smoking.
