Carol singing outside the temple December 2024
Resurrection Church has a highly active Christmas programme organised, which is a credit to its pastor from Pennsylvania Rev. Lucas Durant and presumably the church committee. SAI KUNG BUZZ is 10 years old and we are not aware of any church in our district previously planning such an excellent joyful series of Christmas events.
Nativity Service – 14 December, 10:00 am; HK Academy, 2/F East Common Area
- Resurrection’s children and youth perform the nativity story. The script is a funny and faithful retelling of the gospel account of Jesus’ birth, written by British sitcom writer James Carey. If nativity plays of years past are any indication, it is bound to be a heartwarming and hilarious retelling of the good news of Jesus’ birth.Â

Community Lessons and Carols – 21 December 4:45 to 5:45pm; Sai Kung Temple Plaza
- Musical accompaniment provided by a brass quartet, a special performance by the HKUST Christian Choir, and the main attraction – the people of Sai Kung lifting their voices together in some of the best loved traditional Christmas Carols. Come hear the Christmas story retold through a series of readings, reflect on its relevance to our lives, sing heartily, and converse together at the end over a hot cup of mulled wine and a pastry (free, while supplies last). Â
Christmas Eve by candlelight – 24 December 8:00 to 9:00 pm, Sai Kung Lok Yuk Kindergarten
- A calm and reflective candlelit vigil service in preparation for Christmas. Like in any village parish, we invite any who are out celebrating at nearby pubs and restaurants to come sing and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere before continuing their feasting and fun.Â
Resurrection Church Family Christmas – 25 December, homes around the district, if interested you need to sign up.
- A hosting/hosted matching service for Christmas Day. The prayer of our church is that no one will unwillingly spend Christmas Day alone. To that end, many in our church community sign up to host others on Christmas Day and invite them into their homes to join their traditions and to feast at their tables. If you are at loose-end this Christmas, why not sign up through our church website.Â
In addition, there will be some other Christmas celebrations at Resurrection this year, including a Lunch at the Upper Room hosted by Home4U (Resurrection’s OFW Fellowship), a Christmas Eve Open House at the Vicarage, and other advent services. Details can be found on the church website – resurrection.org.hk/events
