We are now in the Year of the Fire Horse. Saddle up and hang on to your hat. Under the Zodiac calendar, it will be a year combining the Horse –speed and independence — with the Fire element — passion and high energy. The last year of the Fire Horse was 1966, a big one for me (I arrived in Hong Kong). This is a year for rapid movement, bold ambition and significant transformation. You’ve long held big plans: the Fire Horse says giddy-up and get on with it.

How to have good fung shui this year

Because the year is “double fire” (fire element plus horse) it is crucial to temper it. Display earth tones (beige, brown) and calming blue ceramics and crystals. Focus energy on the East and Southeast in your home. Avoid loud activity and do not renovate. Place a horse statue in the south to promote speed and success. Keep the centre of your home clutter-free to allow energy to flow.

What does fung shui expert say?

Thierry Chow, fung shui consultant, says, “This is probably one of the most fiery years you will get.” The fire element will influence both the weather and people’s temperaments. If you’re in an unhappy relationship, it is going to get worse. People born in the autumn or winter will have more fire in their elements. Thierry says invest in technology, art, fashion or cooking employing flame.
