If you have hearing problems, it may be wise to see Dr George Chow in Central. He’s a miracle worker. Cost of my two visits: $9000*. Miracles don’t come cheap.
Ten days ago I suffered sudden total deafness. Look it up on the internet: “Medical Emergency!” At Tseung Kwan O hospital I saw a doctor, who didn’t look a day over 16. He said my left ear was infected and prescribed antibiotics. A week later I am not getting better. I see a Sai Kung doctor, who doesn’t look professional at all; he’s dressed like a post office clerk. Nevertheless, he gave me good advice: go see an ENT specialist.
Dr George Chow is refreshing with a warm bedside manner. He doesn’t wear a mask! First doctor I’ve seen mask-less since 2019. Dr Chow says yes, my left ear is infected and gives me antibiotic pills and ear drops. Also he supplies me with a hearing aid, two earbuds and a chest amplifier. Come back in a week, Dr Chow says.
I do so. Dr Chow has me lie down on his clinic’s bed, then pronounces, like a magician: “Now, you will get your hearing back.” He uses a suction device — I think, because I couldn’t see what he did — and hey, presto! I COULD HEAR.
My right ear, however, is blocked by impacted ear wax that has been there for years. Dr Chow says use this ear wax softener for a week then come back to see me. That will be another $3600 — $1800 for consultation and $1800 for treatment. I have no complaints: the good doctor is charming and it feels wonderful to have a key faculty back. I can talk to people again.
According to Dr Chow “Hearing impairment could arise from so many reasons on earth, from casual to serious, and from regular to urgent. But don’t panic, get desperate or give up if you got it. Let me check it for you first. I am always here to help you sorting it out or fixing it.
