Just before 10:00 am this morning (3/3), the Fire Services Department received a report that a tree about 10 metres tall had fallen on a slope near O Tau Village on Sai Sha Road, Sai Kung, pinning down a lamppost.
Firefighters arrived at the scene, raised an extending ladder, and cut off part of the crown and trunk before moving it to the road. Due to the dense foliage requiring time to clear the area, the road will remain closed until after 5:00 pm.
The Transport Department stated that due to the fallen tree, the entire Sai Sha Road (both directions) between Hoi Ying Road and Tai Mong Tsai Road was closed. KMB Route 99 and KMB Route 299X were terminated and turned around before the blocked section.
Traffic at this location is currently very congested with drivers urged to take alternative routes.
