Woman hikers terrified as robber grabs one by the neck and threatens her with chopper

A robber grabbed a woman hiker by the neck with one hand and threatened her with a chopper with his other hand on the MacLehose Trail three days ago, Sai Kung Police tell BUZZ. There were two female hikers together, a mother and her daughter. The frightening crime occurred at Buffalo Hill, MacLehose Trail Section 4, on February 20 at 1515 hours.

Senior Inspector Max Yip said the robber escaped with a diamond necklace and a pair of earrings, two mobile phones and $400 in cash.  He fled towards Sam Fai Tin. Max said Shatin police are handling the case.

“We have prepared a special alert and have sent to the ambassadors of the Sai Kung Neighbourhood Watch Scheme,” he wrote in an email.

The police issued this description of the criminal: Black and white horizontally striped polo shirt, blue mask, light coloured trousers, Chinese male, 40 to 50 years of age, short black hair, thin, about 180c in height, speaks Putonghua.

  1. Strong likelihood this offender will re-offend. Hopefully local police will be able to apprehend him him before he does.
