Local children will perform on stage at the Hong Kong Academy on June 17 and 25 in shows such as “Wings of the Butterfly” and “Annie Arkey: The Script is on Fire”. Jessica McClellan, Director of Stage Right Hong Kong, said the shows will be open to the public.

In the first show on the 17th kids aged 8 to 12 will act in the Annie Arkey play, which Jessica described as a back stage look at a drama club where all are scrambling for the attention of an agent. “Wings of a Butterfly” will follow. This is an adventure in an Amazonian rain forest starring children 6 to 10 years old.

On the 25th the classic “Alice in Wonderland” will be retold by youngsters 5 to 6 years of age. Later the same day children 7 to 10 will perform “The Princess and the Frog”. On the 25th all the children on stage will be from Clearwater Bay School.

Jessica said tickets are $150 near the stage in the Academy’s theatre and $85 further back. On both days the shows are at 4.30 and 5.30pm. Stage Right Hong Kong is a private company that holds workshops teaching drama and at the end of the school year hosts a theatre festival. This is their fourth.
