Meteor shower expected to blaze across night sky on Saturday

Celestial fireworks are predicted for Saturday night (21 October) as Earth encounters an Orionid meteor shower, according to the Hong Kong Space Museum. The best time to watch if the sky is clear is 10:30pm to 5:30am Sunday.
The Orionids are the most prolific meteor shower associated with Halley’s Comet. They are called Orionids because they appear to come from the point in the sky where you find the constellation Orion. This shower is an annual event occurring in late October.
The Space Museum said conditions should be “favourable” for the viewing. Meteors are sand bits and dust clods believed to be the remnants of comets. When they meet Earth and tear into its atmosphere air friction causes them to burn forming bright streaks that blaze across the night sky.
