Two men suspected of responsibility for 10 burglaries were arrested by police in Sai Kung, Apple Daily reports. The crimes were committed all over Hong Kong including our district. The men are mainlanders, 29 and 32 years old.
Around 9:00 pm on 19 October the police arrested two men surnamed ‘Wai’ from Guangxi, both holding two way permits, after suspicion of burglary in the Sai Kung district. The police took the suspects to a guest house at Jordan Road in Yau Ma Tei where the two men had been staying. Some of the property stolen in previous burglars were recovered including expensive watches, mobile phones, jewellry, cash, etc. A total of $100,000 were found on the men.

According to Ho Man Chung, OC Regional Crime Unit in Kowloon East Regional HQ, they were involved in nine other burglaries which happened in other districts in Kowloon and the New Territories (including Kowloon City, Tai Po, Wong Tai Sin, Tseung Kwan O and Tsuen Wan) between June and October. The value of property lost in the 10 burglary cases total to $370,000.

The two men are now being held under investigation. The police believe they specifically target village houses, expensive residential areas and detached houses, gaining access via windows, but inflict no injury to anyone. The police are investigating whether the men are involved in any other cases and do not rule out arresting more people.
