After 17 years, Italiano's says "Addio, amici"

Italiano’s will close at the end of December, Suraj Kumar Dutta, son of the owner, said. The news will come as something of a shock to Sai Kung residents because Italiano’s seems to have been there on Yi Chun Street forever. Actually it is 17 years, Suraj said.
His dad, Dev Kumar, a canny and successful investor, will retire. Suraj, who has been helping run the restaurant, will go into “web development”, he said.
Many people will be saddened. Italiano’s mezzanine floor was popular for meetings of Friends of Sai Kung and SAI KUNG BUZZ Editorial Board, among others.

  1. Italianos was one of Explore Sai Kung’s first supporters. Thank you for your recognition of the importance of community, Dev. Your restaurant has been top quality and we have enjoyed wonderful meals here. We and many of our friends will miss you! Enjoy a much deserved retirement.

  2. Will have to drop by for a farewell dinner this month!
Very sad to hear that you’re closing up the restaurant Dev – Italianos was one of my favorite lunch venues when we had the office in Sai Kung 😉
Wish you all the very best, and thank you for your great food and service over the years
