The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) is reminding those interested to join auctions for stalls at the 2019 Lunar New Year (LNY) fairs. This would seem to be a good opportunity for local businesses and charities/volunteer organisations to get a higher profile.
The auction for the stalls for the Sai Kung Fair, to be held in Man Yee Square, will take place on 30 November at Hang Hau Community Hall, G/F, Sai Kung Tseung Kwan O Government Complex(High Block), 38 Pui Shing Road, Hang Hau.
The Fair will be held for seven days from 30 January to the early morning of the 2019 Lunar New Year Day (i.e. 5 February 2019). There will be two types of stall up for auction: Dry goods and wet goods. The opening prices are dry goods: $750, wet goods: $630.
The nine LNY fairs will be held at Sha Tsui Road Playground in Tsuen Wan, Yuen Wo Playground in Sha Tin, Kwai Chung Sports Ground in Kwai Tsing, Tung Tau Industrial Area Playground in Yuen Long, Shek Wu Hui Playground in North District, Tin Hau Temple Plaza in Tuen Mun, Tin Hau Temple Fung Shui Square in Tai Po, Man Yee Playground in Sai Kung and Po Hong Park in Tseung Kwan O, with a total of 652 wet goods stalls, 293 dry goods stalls and six fast food stalls. The layout of the Sai Kung Fair is shown below. It can be downloaded from https://www.fehd.gov.hk/english/events/lnyf2019/layout/Man_Yee.pdfhttps://www.fehd.gov.hk/english/events/lnyf2019/layout/Man_Yee.pdf
Bidders for LNY fair stalls must be at least 18 years old and ordinarily resident in Hong Kong.
Anyone can bid for more than one stall. A bidder must pay the bid price and register in person with his or her own name as the licensee of the stall immediately after successfully bidding for a stall. The bidder is also required to sign at once a licence agreement with the FEHD, or will forfeit the rights to operate the stall.
Details of the 2019 LNY fairs such as the public notice, the locations and layouts of the fair venues, commodities allowed for sale at the fair stalls, open auction arrangements and related rules, and a sample of the licence agreement are available at the FEHD website (www.fehd.gov.hk).
