Update on planned protests – 26 September: 1 October looks like being quite interesting

protest 2Here is this week’s update on planned protests in Hong Kong. Not all of these may take place, but those for the next seven days are fairly certain. Also, owing to the fluid nature of the protests, some other events may happen at short notice that are not included here.

Clearly National Day on 1 October is a focal point of many protests. Expect more to be announced as some of those highlighted below are banned by the police.

26 September onwards: 1:00 – 7:00 pm. “The Art of Resistance” Exhibition. Kong Art Space, G/F, 3 Staunton St, Central, Hong Kong

27 September: 4;00 – 6:00 pm. 12 Schools Joint Human Word Building Campaign. Soccer Pitches No. 5-6, Victoria Park

27 September: 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Kowloon Joint School Secondary School Students Concert. Festival Walk, 80 Tat Chee Ave, Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong

27 September: 7;00 – 9:00 pm. Stand with Youth: Becoming Our Better Supporter. LT3, Yasumoto International Academic Park, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

27 September: 7:30 – 11:30 pm.  STAND UP for Victims of Hong Kong San Uk Ling. Edinburgh Place, Edinburgh Pl, Central, Hong Kong.

28 September: 1:00 pm – 12:00 midnight. Airport Transportation Stress Test. Hong Kong International Airport.

28 September: 4:00 – 7:30 pm. The 5th Anniversary of Umbrella Revolution Presents “Liberate Hong Kong Lennon Wall Revolution” Admiralty and Wan Chai.

28 September: 6:00 – 10:00 pm. The Fifth Anniversary of Umbrella Movement – Screening of Umbrella Movement. Kwai Chung – Space outside TV Wall, Kwai Chung Plaza.

28 September: 7:00 – 9:00 pm. “Opposing Authoritarianism and Welcoming the Dawn” Rally. Tamar Park, Harcourt Rd, Admiralty, Hong Kong

29 September: 2:30 – 7:00 pm. Global Anti Totalitarianism Rally. Sogo, Causeway Bay to Central Government Offices.

29 September: 1:00 – 10:30 pm. Festival Walk Window Shopping Day. Festival Walk, 80 Tat Chee Ave, Kowloon Tong.

29 September: 2:30 – 7:00 pm. Tsuen Wan Secondary School Students Strike Rally. Tsuen Wan Park, 59 Wing Shun St, Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong.

30 September: 7;30 – 10:00 pm. Human Chain with Pepe. Hong Kong Clock Tower, Salisbury Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.

1 October: all day. All-in-Black Day. All HKers dressing in Black.

1 October: 7:00 – 8:30 am. Celebration of National Day Carnival. Avenue of stars, Hong Kong.

1 October: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Suck with You at Racecourse. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Sha Tin Racecourse Stand, Sha Tin, Hong Kong, Sha Tin, Hong Kong.

1 October: 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm. “Not My National Day” Self-initiated Petition at British Consulate Assembly. British Consulate General Hong Kong, 1 Supreme Ct Rd, Admiralty, Hong Kon.

1 October: 1:00 pm – 12:00 midnight. Suck with you at Airport 5.0. Hong Kong International Airport, Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong

1 October: 1:00 – 11:00 pm. Kowloon “Military Parade”/ District Rallies. Mei Foo, Wong Tai Sin, Mong Kok, Sha Tin, Tuen Mun, Tseung Kwan O.

1 October: 2:00 – 10:00 pm. “No National Day Only National Martyr” Demonstration. Victoria Park to Chater Road. (Organised by Civil Human Rights Front).

1 October: 2:30 – 5:30 pm. Purifying Hong Kong 18 Districts Dharma Assembly – The First Assembly. West Kowloon Cultural District, West Kowloon, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kon.

1 October: 8;00 – 10:00 pm. Candlelight Vigil for the Victims in San Uk Ling and 831 Prince Edward MTR Incident. Harbourfront of the Victoria Harbour.

1 October: 9:00 – 10:00 pm.Northerner Chorus – ‘Glory to Hong Kong”. Landmark North, 39 Lung Sum Ave, Sheung Shui, Hong Kong.
 
 

Note: The student strikes/demonstrations at secondary and tertiary education institutions which started on Monday 2 September will continue, as will other continuing actions by various groups which we have not highlighted here.
