Third Concert for the Animals – Jimmy2Times, Hudson Hornet, James and the Potato Heads and kiddies choir to perform on 8 October

Hudson Hornet

The entertainment line-up* for the third Hong Kong Buzz Concert for the Animals hosted by Tikitiki Bowling Bar can now be revealed. There will be child singers painted as kittens and puppies, and three bands all Sai Kung based. They are:

  • “James and The Potato Heads”, Sai Kung’s first and only jazz combo formed specifically for the occasion led by trumpeter-singer James Hall featuring numerous musical pros, bringing you a blend of trad, ragtime and ratpack tunes.
  • “Hudson Hornet” featuring all Sai Kung talent Bryan Coulton, Joe Travers and Paul Grace, wowing you with rock’n’roll classics from the 50s and 60s.
  • “Jimmy2Times & The Collective”, who will rollick you with all your favourite rock classics, with their expanded line-up of musicians and singers, led by Mike Williams.

Rob Archibold will compere the lucky draw. The children are the “Sai Kung Mini Singers” from the Arts Factory. There are ten kids, 10 to 13 years of age, all eager to support the Concert for the Animals.

It is a fund-raising event on Friday, 8 October, benefiting Catherine’s Puppies, Hong Kong Cats and Sai Kung Lost Found Injured Animals. Catherine Lumsden says veterinary bills for all the dogs and puppies she rescues have gone over $140,000 and she’s desperate for more finance.

Tickets can be bought on the door on the night or pre-ordered and paid through reservations@urban-ent.com They will cost $250 for an adult and $150 for kids. For transparency, because we are raising money for the animals from the public, the ticket money will be split 60:40 between the dog and cat charities and Tikitiki Bowling Bar for its costs.

Tickets will entitle every person (adults and kids) to two free drinks, food from the vegetarian buffet** (from 7:00 to 9:00 pm) and a free bowling game (subject to availability).   The kids’ party is from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and the adults’ from 7:00 pm until late.

The last Concert for the Animals in 2019 attracted more than 400 people who had a great night out — they were dancing in the aisles — while benefiting the cats and dogs and approximately $50,000 was paid out equally to the charities.

Under government covid rules, two thirds of people on the premises need to be vaccinated, so please bring your proof of jab, if you had it, for scanning at the door.

This event was created by Hong Kong Buzz news magazine four years ago. Tikitiki, whose directors are animal lovers, puts a big effort at considerable cost behind this Concert, also dubbed “The Pound Party”. The second biggest sponsor is Pets Central, which has a chain of veterinary clinics and hospitals. PC is donating $10,000 worth of vet care. Homevet, the vet who comes to you, is the next sponsor with $5000 cash.

We’ve got pledges of $15,000 already with three weeks to go, so we should be able to raise considerably more for the charities this year. If you’d like to donate money for the dogs and cats, tell Tikitiki at reservations@urban-ent.com There will be a raffle organised by Catherine of the Puppies. If you wish to offer prizes, please WhatsApp her at 67997530.

* The credit for the excellent entertainment line-up goes mainly to Jim Lewis.

** You will have the option of ordering from the a la carte menu.
