“And this too shall pass”: Love story of a man and his dog comes to sad end

buddy 3

Buddy, the enormous dog who was lovingly looked after by Rene Zuercher, has died in Thailand, Rene informs BUZZ.

The inseparable pair were often seen together around Sai Kung town, notably at The Picture House. Buddy lived at the shelter of Catherine’s Puppies above Ho Chung and Rene would walk him every day. After Rene decided to move to Ha Hin with his wife, it took him months to arrange transport for Buddy to Thailand.

Here’s Rene message giving us the sad news of his best mate’s passing:

Dear BUZZ Editor,

Very sorry to give you this news……I thought I’d inform you because you always asked how Buddy was when you saw me.

If there is a heaven he is there now.
And his suffering has come to an end.
On 26th December 2019 we were  with him for the last time.
R.I.P BUDDY!!

He became seriously ill and I don’t want to enter into any speculation about the cause and the date. Here it was all of a sudden. We miss him terribly and the house feels empty and cold. The neighbours too got used to his deep barking which was an alarm but not threatening. They all loved him. Well you know how he was loved in Hong Kong by many people. The same happened here.

He deserved a carefree lovely retirement and he got very used to the house. He deserved the very best. But unfortunately it was not meant to last…… that hurts.

Best regards

Rene + Sylvia
