The Sai Kung house of Dr. Chiu Chun-bong, MBE, JP, former Chairman of Po Leung Kuk, was broken into this morning and around $3,000 in cash was stolen.
The incident occurred before 8:00 am this morning (2/6), when a 40-year-old female worker discovered that a glass window of the Tai Mong Tsai Road mansion had been opened and the door inside the house was open.
The police were called suspected that the thief had stolen a handbag. They later found the handbag on the hillside near the Luna House mansion, but about $3,000 cash was missing. Since the mansion was not equipped with closed-circuit television, details of the thieves remain unknown. Wong Tai Sin Criminal Investigation Team are on the case.
The burgled mansion is owned by Chiu Chun-bong, the former chairman of the Po Leung Kuk. He bought the 40,000 square foot property in 1973 and built a villa mansion with tennis courts, basketball courts, swimming pools, golf courses and other equipment. He later named it “Nuna House” to express his love for his wife.
