Director, and frequent traveller, of Sai Kung Minibus Company 1 and 2 confirmed with Covid-19

One of the directors of green minibus company that runs the GMB 1, 1A, 2, 7, and 9 routes in Sai Kung was diagnosed with Covid-19 virus on 14 July. The company confirmed the diagnosis  yesterday, 15 July.

A director of the minibus company who confirmed the diagnosis said the man did not participate in the company’s daily operations, but occasionally travelled as a passenger. He took Minibus 1A between Sai Kung and Choi Hung to drink tea in Kowloon, emphasising that he wore a mask when travelling.

The company stated that the infected director lives in Sai Kung. Staff at the company had been notified and the company has called on staff to seek medical treatment and virus testing as soon as possible if they felt uncomfortable.

According to the website of the Department of Health, the diagnosed director is a 71-year-old man living in Jade Villas,  Chuk Yeung Road, Sai Kung. He has no travel history. He began to have symptoms on Sunday (12/7) and developing a sore throat. He was diagnosed on 14 July, but the source of the infection is unknown and he was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment.

The minibus company has assured staff and passengers that the buses are regularly disinfected and cleaned and that drivers all wear masks and ensure that all passengers do when travelling.
