A 50-year-old man died in a water sports accident off Long Ke Wan, Sai Kung today.
The man was drowned about 100 metres offshore. A fire-boat rescued the victim and drove him to the Marine Police Base in Sai Kung. He was then sent to the Eastern Hospital by helicopter, but died on arrival.
The victim took a boat with several friends to Long Ke Wan this morning. He fell into the sea and drowned while playing alone on a pedalo. A friend rescued the man and called the police around 12:00 noon. He was unconscious when sent to hospital.
Upon preliminary investigation, the police believed that the incident was not suspicious, and the cause of death has yet to be confirmed by an autopsy.
