Narelle Pamuk pushing Ah Bo around town on her trolley
Narelle Pamuk, of Sai Kung Stray Friends Foundation (SKSFF), has contacted BUZZ with the inspirational story of Ah Bo.
Ah Bo collapsed on a high temperature day in July 2020. She was brought to Pet Central clinic and in a very dehydrated weak condition and severe sun burn to her body. Following medical treatment over days her alertness improved but not her mobility due to extreme pain in her rear leg.
The kind decision was made to put her to sleep and village people came to be with her, but Ah Bo sensed her fate and was very responsive to show she wasn’t ready. Following weeks on strong pain meds and x-rays showed evidence if bone cancer.
The options were to be put to sleep or amputate. Respecting her will to live the latter was the decision made. Ah Bo improved within a few days and was up and mobile initially with some assistance.
SKSFF committed to give her a quality remaining life and everyday Narelle or volunteer Rose take Ah Bo to the waterfront and she alights from the trolley and has a short walk, smells the grass and receives many good wishes from people who see her.
Ah Bo is staying at Pet Central and we hope a foster family can be found to get her into a homely environment. A real delight of a dog, she’s so intelligent and will always make a bark when she wants her toilet break.
Pet Central nursing staff and vets are so wonderful to Ah Bo but it is not sustainable for SKSFF to support her long-term stay. If anyone can give Ah Bo a homestay please contact Narelle Pamuk Mob 9199 2340 or even a donation to help support would be so helpful.
