58-year-old man still missing whilst hiking in Sai Kung; search continues for second day

58-year-old Lam Wing-chung left his flat in Yi Ming Estate, Tseung Kwan O, alone on Tuesday (16/3) afternoon to go hiking in Sai Kung. He did not return home and has not contacted his family since. The police, fire and civil emergency forces are continuing the search, which started yesterday (17/3) lunchtime, this morning (18/3). About 80 people gathered in the vicinity of Pak Tam Chung at about 9:00 am to coordinate the search and rescue operation.

It is understood that Lam had a short stop at the store near Pak Tam Chung bus terminus at 4:00 pm Tuesday, and the last position indicated by his mobile phone signal was Yuen Ng Fan, and the search is assuming he may still be in the area.

According to police, “Lam is about 1.64 metres tall, weighs about 68 kg, has a fat build, a round face, yellow skin and short black hair”. When he last appeared, he wore a light-coloured cap, a white shirt, black trousers, dark shoes and a grey backpack. The police urged that anyone who has news of the missing man or has seen him should call or email the Missing Person Investigation Unit of the Kowloon East Region, or contact any police station.
