Body found in Sheung Sze Wan confirmed as missing hiker

Police brought the body back for identification

Just before 3:00 pm this afternoon (18/3) police received a report that a man was trapped in a crevice in a rock on a rocky beach in Sheung Sze Wan, Sai Kung, suspecting that he was drowning. Officers arrived at the scene and confirmed the death of the man on the spot. After investigation, the police confirmed that the male deceased was the 58-year-old construction worker Lam Wing Chung who disappeared in Sai Kung on Tuesday. The cause of death has yet to be determined after an autopsy.

Sources at the scene stated that a domestic helper was walking along the trail in Sheung Sze Wan Bay, and was surprised to see someone trapped on the rocky beach. She reported the case to the police who arrived at the scene and found backpacks, clothing, wallets, mobile phones, identity documents, etc.  Three relatives and friends of the deceased later came to the scene to identify the corpse.
