Having been cancelled in 2020 Hong Kong’s largest street art festival, HKwalls, plans to return in May 2021 and will be held in Sai Kung from 8 – 16 May. HKwalls is usually held in “Art Month” every March, bringing together local and international street artists to create graffiti art on the walls of Hong Kong, and hold a series of activities and workshops to promote street art culture.
HKwalls will also have footprints in Central and Sheung Wan, Wan Chai, Wong Chuk Hang and other areas. The 2020 Art Festival was cancelled due to the novel coronavirus epidemic. Like Art Basel this year, the organiser plans to hold the festival in May. It is now recruiting artists to participate and inviting people to donate walls for creations.
HKwalls 2021 will focus on local artists. If circumstances permit, foreign artists who can visit Hong Kong will be invited to participate, but the details have not yet been determined. If you are interested in participating in this year’s street art event or donating to the wall, you may wish to register on the organiser’s official website.
