50 police search the hills around Portofino along with helicopters and drones in anti-burglary exercise

East Kowloon Region Tactical Unit, Tseung Kwan O Police District Police, Sai Kung Marine Police and Police Canine Unit, together with the Government Flying Service, searched the vicinity of Pak To Avenue, Sai Kung yesterday evening (29/4). They were simulating a search for suspected burglars hiding out in the area.

The anti-burglary operations involved more than 50 police officers and 2 police dogs, who were dispatched to the area near Portofino. During the operation, a large number of police officers armed with flashlights searched for suspicious objects hidden in the grass. Government Flying Service helicopters were also called to the scene and used spotlights to illuminate the grass from the air to assist the ground search operation.

Police officers also used drones to assist in the search. The operation lasted for about 45 minutes, and initially no suspicious items were seized.

In addition, marine police and some police officers patrolled along the coast and in nearby villages to check any suspicious persons or ships entering or leaving the area. During the operation police set up multiple roadblocks along Clear Water Bay Road to check any suspicious vehicles. They also boarded a green minibus passing along Clear Water Bay Road.

The exercises are planned to last five days.
