The Observatory issued high wind alert signal No. 1 at 9:40 pm last night (18/7). Soon after, a 10 metre high cedar tree collapsed onto a house in Sheung Sze Wan Road, Sai Kung.
Some glass windows and canopies on the roof of the third floor were crushed, and debris was scattered on the ground; and a barbecue grill smoke exhaust device placed in the open air was also damaged. No one was injured in the incident.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and brought a chainsaw to assist demolition. After preliminary inspection, it is believed that the tree posed no immediate danger to the scene, and responsibility for its removal was handed over to the homeowner.
