A private car was driving along Tai Au Mun Road, Sai Kung, at around 10 pm yesterday (6th), and was near the parking lot of Clear Water Bay Second Beach when the driver lost control. The car mounted the pavement and smashed into a 1-metre-high anti-collision concrete post.

The post flew across the road to the opposite pavement, such was the force of the collision. The driver called the police. When the firefighters arrived, the driver had left the car, but luckily he was not injured. Police are investigating the cause of the accident. The driver was quoted as telling passers-by that he swerved to avoid a stray dog.

The front of car was damaged and the bumper was torn off. A passer-by took photos of the accident and uploaded them to the Internet. White smoke was coming from the front of the private car in one of the photos – see above, and several men and women were assisting the driver.
