Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department took action earlier this week (14/11) and seized about 380 suspected counterfeit items, including leather handbags, leather wallets and accessories, with an estimated market value of about HK$750,000 at a residential unit in Sai Kung, and arrested a 47-year-old woman suspected of being involved in the case.

Customs officers used the big data systems to investigate, analyse and track down suspicious accounts that use online platforms to sell counterfeit goods. Preliminary investigations revealed that some sellers offered pre-order services and discounted prices to sell suspected counterfeit handbags and accessories.

Customs officers posed as customers to conduct the online trial purchases, and raided a house in Sai Kung. The suspected counterfeit items involved were seized. The case is still under investigation.
