The Cheng Chek Chee students on their visit to Dignity Kitchen, Mong Kok

On 4 March 2023, a group of junior form students from Cheng Chek Chee Secondary School, Sai Kung paid a visit to Dignity Kitchen, Mong Kok to support the cause of helping the disadvantaged. Student Chris Wong wrote to BUZZ about his experience.

Dignity Kitchen is a social enterprise which provides culinary training in Singapore Hawker Cuisine and jobs as hawker chefs to those who are less able both physically and mentally in Hong Kong.

During the visit, we were delighted to taste amazing Singaporean food and delicious freshly baked chocolate cookies. Perhaps what attracted us more was its ambience. The place was filled with positivity and kindness where food was cooked with love and by chefs who really cared about their customers.

The staff and volunteers there also contributed to their cause at the Dignity Mama, a tiny book corner that inspires a culture of books and reading among low-income Hong Kong locals.

In addition, a guided tour was organised by their designated trainer Mr. Lai Chi Lok, Nickolas who encouraged us to embrace and serve the community and people who aspire to live with ‘Dignity’ from all walks of life.

BUZZ reader Supriti Sachdeva organised this meaningful activity for the children outside the classroom.
