BUZZ has reported regularly over the past few months concerning suspicious people and burglary cases in the area of Clear Water Bay Road, Sai Kung. The suspects usually sneak into housing developments at night, usually under cover from the mountainous jungle at the rear of the estates.
As BUZZ has reported, officers from the Tseung Kwan O District Crime Squad and the Uniform Patrol Squad have taken action, with stepped up patrols in the area of Clear Water Bay in the past two weeks (15 June to 10 July), and successfully arrested six mainland men holding two-way permits, of which two were involved in burglary and four in breach of their conditions of stay.
Senior Inspector Chan of the Second Team of the Tseung Kwan O Police District Serious Crime Unit, has reported that at 3:00 am on 29 June, a burglary occurred at a residence on Cheung Sha Wan Road in Sham Shui Po. The owner lost $6,000 in cash and a $6,000 worth of watches. At around 9:00 p.m. on 30 June, the police arrested two men, aged 32 and 33, involved in the case on Wing Lung Road, Hang Hau, Sai Kung. The police found hoods, gloves and other suspected crime tools on their bodies. The two arrested persons have each been provisionally charged with one count of burglary. The case was brought up in Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Courts on 3 July.
In addition, officers also arrested four mainland men aged between 29 and 33 at Dragon Lake Villa Villa on Silver Crest Road, Sai Kung on 4 July, suspected of “violating the conditions of stay”. The arrested men was suspected of illegally engaging in decoration and waterproofing works for residential buildings in Hong Kong through an intermediary. The four arrested persons were each charged with one count of breach of condition of stay. The arrested persons were each sentenced to two months’ imprisonment at Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Court on 7 July.
