13 canoes become trapped in Tiu Chung Chau; GFS rescues six people

At 1:00pm Saturday (5/8), the police received a report that a group of eco-tourists were in some difficulties near Tiu Chung Chau, Sai Kung. 13 canoes were trapped near the Tiu Chung Cave and were unable to leave the area, and assistance was required. Emergency services responded to the call and dispatched a rescue operation.

The Government Flying Service also dispatched a helicopter to the scene, and rescued a total of six people at the scene and sent them to the Wan Chai helipad. None of the six people were injured and did not need to be sent to the hospital.
