Last night, a week later than planned thanks to typhoon Saola, The Garden Bar at Hebe Haven, Sai Kung was transformed into a ‘Rustic and Romantic’ themed wedding reception to celebrate the marriage of Catherine Lumsden (Catherine’s Puppies) and Adam Lenderyou.
Adam proposed in March in front of the Sydney Harbour bridge
Approximately 150 people attended, less than originally planned sadly due to postponing a week, but a big crowd nonetheless. Social media in Sai Kung is today flooded with photos, videos and comments about what a fabulous evening everyone had – and of course, as you’d expect from such a big celebration, a few sore heads are mentioned too. “It was like Sai Kung events of old, pre-covid when people could really just enjoy each others company, let their hair down. Ladies heels were off, there was lots of ‘Dad’ dancing and people were beaming, everything we wanted and planned for, and more.”
On the water – their happy place… (with a dog too of course)
Entertainment included The Red Stripes doing a one hour set – and DJ Dougy playing disco tunes, there was a lot of dancing! Event planner and art & craft genius Lizzie Sharpe worked her magic with the décor, it looked stunning! Talented young cake makers Sam and Jeorge Petris made the cake and it was incredible! Hebe Haven events manager Charron Robertson worked tirelessly to make sure the event ran smoothly, not an easy task with weather conditions and HHYC restrictions.
“All of these Incredible people made our night magical, we are just so thankful” says Catherine.
Adam helping with a dog rescue
Catherine is a well known ambassador for dogs in need and as well as looking after many at her two shelters, she has found homes for more than she can count. Adam jokes ‘We can’t go anywhere in Hong Kong without seeing a dog that Catherine knows, or someone who’s adopted from her or follows her on social media.’ When asked about living with Catherine he tells us honestly ‘She is chaos, she takes on way too much and puts her heart and soul into Catherine’s Puppies. She never really has any time off or a break, if she’s not at the shelter with the dogs, she’s trying to catch up with the hundreds of messages she gets and the admin. I see first hand the toll that takes on her, but it’s her passion and she’s brilliant at what she does.’
Catherine and dogs…….
Catherine and Adam met in 2019, a friend introduced them at The Picture House. Adam (a rigger by trade) proposed in March in front of the Sydney Harbour bridge. They married in July but both say their reception on Saturday was when they really celebrated. The newly weds asked for donations in lieu of gifts, no surprise the charity they chose was Catherine’s Puppies!
