The lots for sale in Tai O, Sai Kung
Land that appears linked to triads, or people who behave like triads, in the centre of O Tau village is on sale with an asking price of $12 million. It is 1110 sq ft according to a site sign.
We called the number given on the sign and “April” answered. We told her the price seemed excessive. “It is about what we paid for it some years ago.” We asked why they didn’t build on it themselves. “It is beyond our bandwidth.”
What is really going on here is murky, grounds for suspicion and possibly police action. When the land was sold villagers were told it had gone for $1 million. Shortly afterwards a triad-style red liquid attack was made on the nearest house. This was because the landlord had asked for a further $1 million to allow the buyer through the gate into the village, neighbours were told. This is hearsay and may not be accurate.
When we parked our car next to the site a human turd was put on our windscreen. All this disgusting behaviour has been reported to the police.
