Officers from the Enforcement and Control Section of the Traffic Department of Kowloon East Region conducted operations to combat traffic violations in Sai Kung Tuesday (23/7). During the operation, officers disguised themselves as passengers and found that some taxis refused to pick up taxis in Sai Kung District. Officers issued summonses to two drivers.

In addition, officers issued a total of 25 fixed penalty notices for other traffic offences, including 17 for “failure to obey traffic signs”, two for “crossing continuous double white lines”, three for “speeding” and three for “letting passengers pick up and drop off in restricted areas”.

The police stressed that they will continue to enforce the law resolutely and crack down on taxi-related violations to protect the rights and interests of the public, and called on drivers not to defy the law. The police pointed out that if members of the public discover relevant illegal activities by taxis, they should write down the time, location, taxi license plate, driver’s name, driving route and other information, and report it to the police.
